Mission

Do you have a glorious cover drive in your locker? Do you possess a googly, doosra or flipper? Can you deliver in-swinging yorkers at will? Or… do you hoick to cow corner, serve up pies and talk a good game at the bar like most of us?

On most Saturdays, we run 2 teams: 4 league teams – 2 in the London Cricket League (LCL) and 2 in the National Cricket League (NCL)– and 1 friendly side. We also have 2 Sunday friendly sides, a mid-week evening T20 side in the LCL 100 Balls Cricket and occasional mid-week afternoon friendlies (usually 40 overs). If you crave cricket throughout the year, there is a winter indoor side as well. We’ve been told by Surrey we have the largest men’s section in the region.

So, whether you’re a recently retired professional cricketer or you’re just recently retired, we have a team that’s right for you. We pride ourselves getting nearly everyone a game every week that you’re available, and on being fun, inclusive, and competitive no matter which team you play in.

Vision

Our Newham Gladiators Cricket Club runs cricket for over 85 boys Reception all the way up into adult cricket, and we run cricket almost year-round, including autumn term and spring term indoor training as well as outdoor training and matches during the summer term. We also run coaching camps during most school holidays. In 2021, we have 9 boys/mixed squads. Across both senior and junior sections, we are about 35% ethnicities other than Asian-British, 50% Asian-European about 15% White-British.

Unfortunately, running a club our size isn’t cheap, particularly in London.

Our primary aim is to raise money to build a new pavilion because our current one is falling down. Without a new one, our club as we know it will cease to exist.

Our net facilities are also in need of renovation and our ground equipment requires regular servicing.

Importantly, we don’t pay ANY of our players. We aim for all our members to benefit equally from our facilities.
